Florida Trip

Post created on February 26, 2008 by Reesie under Blogger Posts · 1 Comment »

I went to Florida on my quarter of century anniversary/birthday!!!! I had so much fun. On the 21st, Jaime and I went to Raindancer, a world-class steakhouse. Eversince Justin, my former boss, told Farrah and I how superb their steak was, I’ve been dying to go there. However, it is very expensive so I put my visit to the said restaurant on hold for 2 years. Finally last week, when I tasted their steak for $50/plate, I said to myself it is indeed worth the price. It was the best steak I ever tasted in my entire life!!!! I had filet mignon and I ate every last piece of it! I guess that was my first and last trip to that restaurant. Ang mahal kasi!!!!

On the next day, I met up with my former boss Justin to catch up on things. I was really glad to see him again after a year or so. We went to Spoto’s Oyster bar. The food was also great. We’ve been there with Farrah! We missed her with us. And on that night, Jaime and I met up with Louie, my very good friend, and the rest of the gang. We were chatting for hours and then decided to go bowling. We had so much fun!!!

On the third day, Saturday, Jaime and I were busy preparing for the party that night. We made pancit and leche flan with the help of Louie, our friend who’s a good cook. It came out really good. We ordered more foods at the Filipino Restaurant..There were so many people came. Jaime’s colleagues and my friends came. We really had a good time! Dancing, singing, teasing…we were like kids! It was my first time to really have fun since I moved to NM. I realized how bored my life here in New Mexico. It was really nice spending time with them even for just a few days.
I received a lot of gifts on my birthday but being with Jaime was the best gift I had!

Prison Break Season 3 Finale

Post created on February 19, 2008 by Reesie under Blogger Posts · 1 Comment »

Prison Break is my favorite TV show. I only watch TV because of it. I’ve been following the series eversince it was aired on 2006. I even bought the DVD’s for the last two seasons. I watched it not just because of Wentworth Miller who’s my all time crush next to Matt Damon, but also the storyline is such a masterpiece. Love the cinematography, the music, the plot, the characters, etc. The director and the rest of the casts and crew did a very good job. Every element of the show is well-thought and well-executed.

Yet, last night’s show was a bit of disappointment. It was the anticipated last episode of Season 3. Compared to season finale’s of Season 1 and Season 2, Season 3’s goodbye was a heartbreaker, not in a good way. I expected to have an explosive ending like the other seasons but it was incredibly dull. Unlike the ending of the last two seasons, I supposed audience were not that enthralled to see the next season. You know that kind of show that left us shocked, thrilled, wondering what’s next to happen? This last one?? It left me grieving with so much sadness and disappointment…Hmmmp.. Or, maybe I expected too much.

Despite the disappointment though, I am looking forward to see Season 4 all because of Wentworth. Toinks… Seriously, who knows the next one is a lot better and will redeem Prison Break!

Roses and their meanings

My boyfriend sent me 12 dozen of long-stemmed roses today and coincidentallly, as I was browsing Yahoo news, this brought to my attention:

If you’re thinking of a dozen long-stemmed messages de amor for February 14, here are the week’s most searched-on types of roses and their secret meanings
Red Roses – Love and romance
Black Roses – Vengeance
Blue Roses – Mystery and intrigue
Pink Roses – Gratitude and appreciation
Purple Roses – Love at first sight
White Roses – Innocence and purity
Green Roses – Fertility
Yellow Roses – Joy and friendship
Lavender Roses – Enchantment
Orange Roses – Enthusiasm, passion

Red Roses are classic. They are the epitome of love and romance since the stone age (*wink) yet I always like yellow roses because my favorite color is yellow.

Still, I don’t think the are meanings hidden beneath these beautiful flowers.

From Yahoo News: Online Valentine cards may contain Internet worm, FBI warns

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Valentine’s Day e-greetings from a stranger could deliver more than the recipient bargained for in the shape of a destructive “Trojan horse” that hijacks computers, the FBI warned Tuesday.

“If you unexpectedly receive a Valentine’s Day e-card, be careful,” the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a statement, warning Internet users to “be on the lookout for spam emails spreading the Storm Worm malicious software (malware).”
“The Storm Worm virus has capitalized on various holidays in the last year by sending millions of emails advertising an e-card link within the text of the spam email. Valentine’s Day has been identified as the next target,” the FBI said.
The bogus email directs the recipient to click on a link to retrieve an electronic Valentine’s Day card.
If the user falls for the ruse, malware will infect their computer or the device they used to connect to the Internet, and make it become part of a Storm Worm botnet, according to the FBI.
A botnet is a network of computers that, unbeknownst to their users, forward transmissions, such as spam, viruses and malware, to other computers linked to the Internet.
Botnets can also be used in identity theft, the FBI warned, urging Internet users not to open Valentine’s greetings from unknown senders.

Cramps

Yes, it’s red flag today! My stomach really hurts!!! My palms are sweating yet I feel cold. This is the worst pain I ever have since college. Can somebody help me? I already took ibuprofen to alleviate the pain but it didn’t work. As I was writing this, I am still in pain!!!!

Like some women, I had my fair share of monthly agony. When I was in high school, I almost fainted in one occasion. And in college, i did faint and to top it off, I vomitted. My good friend Chona helped me out. I owed her one. I remember it was our computer laboratory hour and although, we had one project to be passed at that day, she went with me in the clinic leaving her computer programming project behind. I consider her as one of my true friends really…

They said that women who get cramps (dysmenorrhea) during their period would have an easy delivery of their baby once they get pregnant. Is this true??? Or is this one of the many Filipino superstitions?
