Second Life, Second Chance!

It’s been weeks since I am out of the blog world. Something really terrible happened to my family back in Cebu and I wasn’t ready back then to blog about it. It was sad, depressing..and just horrible.
My Dad was hospitalized not because of natural illness. He was stabbed by an ice pick three times at the back. The bastard stabber was our neighbor who is famous for being a drug addict and a theft. Our family knows him. He was scolded by my father one time. Because of this, unknown by Dad, this evil bastard had been planning to kill him. Just for this reason, he wanted to kill my Dad. Stupid Idiot!! My father is no spring chicken –he’s 60 years old forchristsakes! How in the world could he do such a terrible terrible thing to a happy person like my Dad?
While my Dad was in the Sari-sari store to buy cigarettes, the bastard came running at his back and stabbed him three times with an ice pick. People were just shocked by what they had witnessed. They rushed him to the hospital. When he got there, he had no vital signs whatsoever–as in flat zero. Fortunately, after a while they were able to revive him. His lungs, esophagus, trachia and thorax were hit. He had one operation and until now, he is in the ICU. On top of all these, he had a cardiac arrest!Thank God, it was mild. The doctors said he is a fighter. Thank you Lord for not taking away my dad from us – for giving us one more chance to show how much we love him.
About 50 people, neighbors, friends and relatives, gathered together to search for the bastard who stabbed my dad. The next morning, they found him. They beat him up really bad. One guy got a pistol and shot his both hands! Another guy shove him with an old heavy shot gun in the face and head. It’s nothing compared to what my father had gone through. Yes, it is mean to think bad to other people but he is not a human being and why treat him one. I hope he will rot in jail and regret what he did for the rest of his life.
On a brighter note, after a week of trying to live, now my Dad is conscious and is able to talk. He keeps asking for my Mom. They were separated about more or less 15 years ( my Dad left home but not away from us–he was just around the neighborhood), and now they are back on each others’ arms. Things happen for a reason. They wanted to get married again. Geeh! After all these years, they still love each other. Second chance indeed!
Anyways, for those people who help my Dad in one way or another, thank you very much. Thanks also for praying for my dad’s recovery. Thank you dear Father in heaven!
4th of July Weekend

As what I mentioned in my previous post, I was not given a time off on July 4 and even the Saturday thereafter. The good thing about it though was that I got a 20% raise!! Isn’t it awesome?? Now I don’t mind working on holidays!!LOL. Pera lang pala ang katapat! (*wink)
Although I wasn’t around all the time, I was able to spend quality time with Jaime. My very nice and beautiful sister took him around town so that he wouldn’t be bored waiting for me at my place. When my boss knew that my boyfriend was in town, he felt bad a bit for not giving me a day off so he sent me home earlier…then I spent the rest of my day with my handsome prince charming.. (*wink) Indeed it is true that when one door closes, a window opens. LoL.
Despite the fact that we did not spend our 4th of July in Crested Butte as plan, we managed to have fun! We went to a pinoy party and had a blast! On Saturday after half-day-work, we went out to dinner (it was nice) and watch Hancock afterwards. This is just like our normal date before when I was still in Florida. I really miss those good old days! Friday was always to look forward for. I would prepare dinner for him or we would dined out. We spent the weekend together. It didn’t matter if we did something, went somewhere or just stayed at home and cuddled all day, as long as we were together. The weekend back then was exciting unlike now, it’s as boring as hell.
Now, I have to face again the fact that we’re not together.Whenever I get used to the idea of being alone and then we see each other again, the parting is just excruciating. I have to adjust everytime we part again and again. It is a cycle (together-part-adjust that we’re apart -together-part-adjust that we’re apart-so on and so forth). I hope I am making any sense here.Hehehe. So friends, comrades, countrymen, ladies and gentlemen, LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP IS DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH! USE IT WITH CAUTION OR BETTER YET, STAY AWAY FROM IT!!
Crested Butte with Jaime No More

Today,
Boss: Clients will be here Saturday.
Moi: The presentation will be ready by then. Are you gonna be here Saturday?
Boss: Why? I am in Denver right now. I’ll be there Friday.
Moi: I am just asking. Hmmm. Do you require me to be here? (Saturday, my day-off)
Boss: Yes, that’s one of the requirements.
Moi: Ok. How about Friday? (4th of July, supposed to be holiday)
Boss: I am sorry. We need to prepare. You should be there Friday.
Moi: Why you didn’t warn me before? I already made plans for the long-weekend forchristsakes!! Yes, I am just your employee but you cannot just make me go to work during my day-off whenever you want to and without prior notice! Expect my resignation letter today!!!!!
Director: “Cut!”
So I just said this:
Moi: That’s fine! I will see you Friday.
I am really devasted today. Our Crested Butte getaway has been planned since three weeks ago. I told Jaime the bad news,– he just said ” We can’t do anything about it. It’s your work.”. He’s very understanding. As for me, I want to scream at my boss’s face. You should have told me!!!
So, I called Orbitz to cancel my reservation. And, I can’t cancel it!!!! Now, I am really furious!

What frustrates me the most is the thought that I can’t spend quality/more time with Jaime while he’s here. We seldom see each other and now that we’re together–time is limited..grrrrrrh.. not to mention the high fare that he paid for his plane tickets….. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Blooper 4: Lay Down Your Cross and Follow Me!

1999: 4th Yr High School
University of Cebu
Values Ed Class
Mrs. Georshua, that was her name back then. ( I was told she got married again and changed her name into Mrs. Nucos –) She was the most terrifying teacher we had in High School (H.S.). Apparently, she’s been our teacher since 2nd year H.S. until we graduated. She was very strict. She was neither late nor absent—as in never, not even a single instance. She closed the classroom door so you couldn’t get in once you’re late. She required us to go to church every Sunday and had our priest or pastor or minister signed a card as a proof that we did go. This was one of the bases of our grade. Isn’t it ridiculous? Forcing somebody to go to church? Doing it for grades not because of his/her own will? I didn’t know what religion I was back then so it was killing me! LOL. I didn’t want to fail the subject just for this, so I did what I was told. In fairness of her, Mrs. Squid (Nucos) was really an effective teacher. It was only during her class that we all behaved.
One of the activities we had was to read a story and recite in front of the class what we thought about it and what were the lessons we could get. We were seated alphabetically and so we were called to recite according to where we sit. Unfortunately, I was one of the first persons. I wished I had the power to put “A” as the last letter of the alphabet. “I’m so gonna kiss whoever invented the alphabet for putting A in the very first or I’m gonna tell my Mom why she married my Dad!”, I thought.
And so it was my turn to recite: ( Note: I was really shy back then.. as in super doper timid.. so imagine my fear )
Mrs Squid: What do you think is the lesson of the story.
Moi: Ahh..ehh..iihhh..uuuhh…oohh.. LOL.
Mrs. Squid: Rester?
So I started talking,
Moi: The lesson of the story…..blah blah blah ( I forgot what I said exactly.. )
And then,
Moi: As what Jesus told us, “ Lay down your cross and come follow me!”.
I heard that my classmates were giggling. I didn’t get why they were amused. And when I look towards Mrs. Squid, she was smiling as well.
Further I explain,
Moi: Jesus told us to follow his footsteps. He told us to lay down our cross and follow him.
Now, my classmates were bursting into laughter. I saw my terror teacher laugh her heads off!
