Here I am in the place where I come let go
Miami the base and the sunset glow
Everyday like a mardi gras everybody party all day
No work all play okay
So we sip a little something lay to rest the spill
Me an charlie at the bar runnin up a high bill
Nothin less than ill when we dress to kill
Everytime the ladies pass they be like hi will
Can yall feel me all ages and races
Real sweet faces
Every different nation spanish hatian indian jamaican
Black white cuban and asian
I only came for two days of playing
But everytime I come I always wind up stayin
This the type of town I could spend a few days in
Miami the city that keeps the roof blazin

Ito yung mga kataga sa kanta ni Will Smith. Yes, it is a party place.  I’ve been to Miami several times pero di pa ako nakapasok sa mga clubs, hindi din naman ako mahilig sa mga ganon.  Subalit datapwat madami din namang mga mapupuntahan dito na you would really enjoy.

I Miss Florida

Post created on July 29, 2009 by Reesie under Friends, Personal, Travel · 34 Comments »

Florida is my first home here in the US. Ang dami kong memories dito. I would say na most of them are good. Dito ko din nakilala ang one and only JLC ng buhay ko. Achus!

There was no adjustment with regards to temperature coz Florida, like35613327715493l the Philippines, is hot and humid.  Mas umitim pa nga ako doon keysa noong nasa atin ako.

What I like the most sa Florida is its people. I’ve never encountered a racist or any bad experience towards Floridians. They are very nice.

I miss my friends so bad. If it weren’t for them, my stay would’ve been boring. I miss Farrah, Louie, Bless, Iza and the rest of the gang. Pumupunta kami kahit saan. Madami kasing mapupuntahan sa Florida. Farrah and I lived in Jupiter, two hours to Miami and 3 hours to Orlando. Miami and Orlando are two big cities of Florida which are frequented by visitors from all over the world. So maganda ang place namin dahil nasa gitna kami ng mga malalaking cities na ito. If you go to Miami, there’s the ever famous SOuth Beach where you can see celebs and sexy bikini bodies all over the place. If you like rides or theme parks, go to Orlando, the home of the humungous DisneyWorld.

I will share some pictures to give you some glimpse of the beauty of Florida and my happy life in the said state.

Check Out Vancouver Newbie

farley

My good friend Farrah has just started her blog few days back. I want to welcome her in this wonderful world of blogosphere. Yay. Check out her blog HERE.

Unlike me, she’s a real writer and a very good one. She just moved to Vancouver, Canada and  mostly, the topic of her blog surrounds her life in this beautiful city  hence, the title of her blog, Vancouver Newbie. I love her witty tagline, Discovering Vancouver One Post At A Time.  She also blogs about being a full time mom and a wife, and the topic we all love, food.

Farrah and I were roomates for almost two years in Florida few years back and she was the reason why I was able to able to work in Florida.  For that span of time I was able to learn a lot from her. I tell you, she’s just a year younger than me but her wisdom is beyond her years. She would throw you good advices here and there. She’s very witty and she always comes up with a topic on anything.  I remember she told me, ” Do you want me to tell you a story about that electric fan?”  Haha. Her husband is a very good writer too. Both of them were editors-in-chief in their college paper. I hope he’s gonna write in her blog once in a while. Their love story is quite inspiring. I hope she’s gonna blog about it as well. ;-)

Anyway, here’s an excerpt of her first ever post:

Needless to say, our move to Vancouver already made our 2009. We are still looking forward for some wonderful things to happen, but this one is BIG. Finally being here is one of our wishes for the past year and the fact that it was answered sooner than we thought makes it sweeter than it already is.  But, of course, like any new adventure, moving has perks and some flea bites. We managed to spend all of our savings to pay and furnish our apartment, buy stuff we could have not imagined needing while in Los Angeles, and other important and not so important items.  We also found out that the ridiculously expensive cream we use to help my son’s eczema is not available anywhere here, so we have to buy it from the US and pay for brokerage fees which makes it a bit more pricey. Our trial and error method in finding a new cream for him has proven to be futile and wasteful. However, we love it here. Vancouver is a dynamic and vibrant city.

Guys, please help me make Farrah feel at home. Thanks! ;-)

And oh, she’s still doing some tweaking here and there in her new blog so don’t be surprised of the lack of widgets. ;-)

Nineteen Forgotten

Post created on July 27, 2009 by Reesie under Family, Personal · 30 Comments »

My sister and I were browsing her old photo albums over the weekend. To our delight, we found the most precious photo of all photos in the world, our one and only family picture taken way back when.  We were very excited. It was like we found a bar of gold in our closet. We thought we’ve lost all copies of this photo when a typhoon destroyed our little house  back then.  I remember we had a wood-laminated copy of this. Ginawa atang panggatong kaya din nawala. Hehe. Just by looking, memories of childhood and poverty are coming back to me. This brought me pride and humility at the same time.

We don’t have a family heirloom but I consider this as one.  This is an invaluable piece of property of the family. It would be very hard to gather the whole family again for a picture. Yes, it is possible but not as of this moment.

Anyhoot, can you find me in this photo?

I hope you had a great weekend, folks! :D

Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino

Post created on July 23, 2009 by Reesie under Barrio Siete · 41 Comments »

Barrio Siete, headed by La Kapitana, has a little campaign for the former president, Cory Aquino. We all know that she’s experiencing the toughest time of her life right now. The yellow ribbon symbolizes love and respect to our former president. She needs our support and prayers. We might not agree/please with her on some of her decisions during or after her incumbency, but we all know that she helped us dethroned a dictator. That alone is enough reason to show our respect and appreciation to her.

We humbly invite you to join this tribute to Mrs. Aquino by following these few steps:

1. Create an entry entitled: “Touch a blogger: Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory Aquino!“. A link to the Barrio’s original entry will be appreciated, but is not required.

2. Post a yellow ribbon in your blog for President Cory Aquino. Whatever form of yellow ribbon that your creative imagination can come up with.

3. Invite other bloggers to tie a yellow ribbon for Cory.

Salamat!
