Holding Hands While Skating

My JLC and I had nothing in common in terms of hobbies or interests. He is an outdoor-kind-of-a-man while I am an indoor-kind-of-a-woman. Hehe. He loves to jog/walk while I just want to stay inside the house and play with my computer. He wanted to start into biking but he never had a chance for he always caught up with his work. He wanted me to tag along and there’s no way I could bike with him. I had hoped that he would fall in love with photography but he has zero interest on it. I could not just drag him around, follow me like a dog, while I am shooting. On a second thought, I can actually do it but I am not that mean-spirited. Hehe. I want him to enjoy as well.
So we started listing on things/activities that we could do together..something he or I could fell in love with. Well, shopping is not included in the list of course although we both love it but we don’t want to end up living in food stamps. LOL. We do love going to the movies, but that doesn’t create bonding time. We want something where we can bond and work out at the same time.., a sport. He loves basketball but hell, could you picture me dribbling a ball?
Then one day he bought PSP3. Well, it’s not a sport but at least it’s something that we could do together. We were hooked for a few days at first but our momentum (mine particularly) died down. So again, weekends were back to being boooring.
Then one day, isang araw, we were watching a figure skating contest. I believe it was a US prequalification for the Winter Olympics. We were just mesmerized by how those kids skated effortlessly. And then we both realized that we never ever tried skating before. It’s a shameful realization for we are in a place where winter is really white.
So the next weekend, we went to a local ice rink and the rest is, shall we say, history. We were hooked. We both love it. I am thinking of enrolling myself to a figure skating class while he’s thinking of doing the hockey class. Both have the same schedule and are using the same rink for the classes. Now, we’ve been going to the rink every single week HHWS – Holding Hands While Skating. Charotz!
We never plan to be really serious about it unless if there’s a slight chance that I could be the next Kim Yu-Na or he could be the next best hockey player out there or Apollo Ohno perhaps. Who are we kidding?! LOL.
We are just happy that finally we found something that we both love. I guess it is also important in a relationship to have an activity that both partners share the same interest with. It really can tighten the bond. Don’t ya think?!

Springtime! Yay! Allergy?! Nay!

I’ve been feeling rather uninspired lately which explains my lack of post, I apologize for that.
Spring is finally here. The weather is really gorgeous these days – not too warm and not too cold – just perfect! However, there’s one thing I despise most about Spring and that is the allergy it brings. The pollen from trees (Pinon) are making people sick – sneezing, clogged-up/running nose, sore eyes etc. Unfortunately, I am one of these people. I’ve been following pollen allergy forecast (yes, there is such a thing) and my place has been high since April 1 which explains my sleepless nights for days now. I’ve been taking anti-allergy but the medication is making me feel tired and lousy. I know my predicament is not as bad as I think it is compared to other people out there suffering from fatal illnesses but you know, I am just sharing. I just hope that this goes away soon. This is the worst allergy season. Last year wasn’t so bad at all.
I wish I am in Japan right now. They have the best and gorgeous Spring season of all. Look at this photo taken by my friend from Japan via his blog.
Georgeous, isn’t it?
Now I don’t mind allergies as long as my surrounding is as beautiful as this! But that’s not the case……
Hope you guys are well.

The King of All Crabs

Tonight we embraced the glutonous side of ours. We went to a local casino here (no, no, we don’t gamble at all unless of course if you call lotto as gambling…well JLC said it’s supporting charity too! ) to have dinner in their buffet. Every Friday, they have a seafood extravaganza and the star of all stars is their Alaskan King Crab. So we went there just for it! Although I am not really a big fan of buffets, eating there is way much cheaper than cooking your own crabs. Imagine if you buy crabs from the grocery, it would cost you $8.00/lb compared to the $15 eat-all-you-can crabs in the casino. What a deal, right?
So anyway this is how I eat my crab with the help of the following “equipment” -
Lemon and Butter:
Tabasco:
And of course you can’t eat crabs without the best invention that man ever made – the Cracker!
Now, ladies and gents , I present to you the King of Crabs -
First Plate:
Second Plate:
Third Plate
But first of all, the most important thing to successfully win the battle of the crabs is to wear something like this. Oh yes ,even if it means freezing your buns off … literally!
A girl gotta do what she gotta do, right? LOL
Seeyah peeps and happy weekend! I need to hit the sacks now. Oink. Oink.
Rants on Pinoy TV

I watched Ai-Ai & Erap’s movie last weekend, I almost puked sa kabaduyan! To top it off the resolution of the DVD (original), which my sister bought in Seafood City (Filipino grocery store in Vegas), wasn’t good at all. ABS-CBN ( ikaw din GMA) should change their game plan. The story sucks big time. The humor sucks. It’s same ‘ol same ‘ol. No creativity at all! They should fire all their writers and directors and hire new ones. Napag-iwanan na sila ng panahon. What do you think? In furnace (read: in fairness) , Nanay Dionesia was very effective in her role though . I laughed my head off on every scene she had.
I also noticed these days that they (Phil. TV networks) like to go green. You know, recycling/reusing foreign shows and doing pinoy versions of them? Also, do you notice that they like using popular song titles as movie titles?! GRRR. And they would retort that they are just giving what the people want? Haller, it’s you, the media, that are influencing the people not the other way around!
Watching Filipino shows, in some way, serves as link to Pinoys oversees like me to our homeland but sometimes it become frustrating to see that Filipinos opting status quo rather than embracing improvement. I guess the shows back home are stuck in the era of Herbert Bautista, Erap, FPJ, etc. They should welcome new directors, new writers, new technology and new concept. We have enough teleseryes/soap, don’t we? Can we move on from sampalan and iyakan to more sensible shows? No wonder most of us Pinoys are melodramatic. Hehe. What I am really saying is that TV networks should give the audience a chance to use their brains.
By the way, hindi ako galit! Hehe
XoXo
When I Grow Up I Want To Be Kim Yu-Na

I’ve been following the Winter Olympics lately. I particularly like speed skating (Apolo Ohno I love you!) and figure skating, of course.
Just last night, Kim Yu-Na of South Korea, won the gold medal effortlessly for the woman figure skating. It was Korea’s first gold for figure skating.
Well, her performance looked effortless but the pressure was really high for her. Her country expected her to win and anything less than gold was a mere disappointment for everybody. She won gold on the 2009 World Championship and she also won various medals for different competitions before that.
Currently, she’s the biggest celebrity in South Korea. Reportedly, she has an income of $5 million per year from her various endorsements – from sanitary napkins to cell phones to cars.
Her rise of fame is not a surprise given how talented she is and on top on that, how beautiful she is.
So today, I am formally announcing that when I grow up I want to skate like her. Wish me luck, okay?
As skating is now my new hobby, I guess I’m getting there – there, where Yu-Na is!!! Wahahaha.Look! Did you see my move? Yu-Na, beat that!
Those pads really come in handy, I tell you.
Okay, before I embarrassed myself too much all I really wanted to say is “HAPPY WEEKEND, PEEPZ!!!”
