Jovit Baldivino – The Next Big Thing

This is yet another amazing and jaw-dropping performance of Jovit Baldivino. The natural talent of this kid is indescribable. I believe he’d go far beyond he could ever imagine. He also need to choose the right kind of people he wants to associate with to reach success. Humility is also needed.
I disagree with Kris Aquino when she said that Jovit should keep his old style. He looks better than ever with his new style. Love the hair and although I kinda hate his jacket but sure it looks way better than the polo.
Agree or Disagree?

My JLC and I had nothing in common in terms of hobbies or interests. He is an outdoor-kind-of-a-man while I am an indoor-kind-of-a-woman. Hehe. He loves to jog/walk while I just want to stay inside the house and play with my computer. He wanted to start into biking but he never had a chance for he always caught up with his work. He wanted me to tag along and there’s no way I could bike with him. I had hoped that he would fall in love with photography but he has zero interest on it. I could not just drag him around, follow me like a dog, while I am shooting. On a second thought, I can actually do it but I am not that mean-spirited. Hehe. I want him to enjoy as well.
So we started listing on things/activities that we could do together..something he or I could fell in love with. Well, shopping is not included in the list of course although we both love it but we don’t want to end up living in food stamps. LOL. We do love going to the movies, but that doesn’t create bonding time. We want something where we can bond and work out at the same time.., a sport. He loves basketball but hell, could you picture me dribbling a ball?
Then one day he bought PSP3. Well, it’s not a sport but at least it’s something that we could do together. We were hooked for a few days at first but our momentum (mine particularly) died down. So again, weekends were back to being boooring.
Then one day, isang araw, we were watching a figure skating contest. I believe it was a US prequalification for the Winter Olympics. We were just mesmerized by how those kids skated effortlessly. And then we both realized that we never ever tried skating before. It’s a shameful realization for we are in a place where winter is really white.
So the next weekend, we went to a local ice rink and the rest is, shall we say, history. We were hooked. We both love it. I am thinking of enrolling myself to a figure skating class while he’s thinking of doing the hockey class. Both have the same schedule and are using the same rink for the classes. Now, we’ve been going to the rink every single week HHWS – Holding Hands While Skating. Charotz!
We never plan to be really serious about it unless if there’s a slight chance that I could be the next Kim Yu-Na or he could be the next best hockey player out there or Apollo Ohno perhaps. Who are we kidding?! LOL.
We are just happy that finally we found something that we both love. I guess it is also important in a relationship to have an activity that both partners share the same interest with. It really can tighten the bond. Don’t ya think?!

Last weekend it snowed and I was hoping that it would be the last for this winter. I was so wrong. There’ll be more snow coming tonight and over the last few days. Grrr.
Anyway, I took these photos thinking it would be my last chance to capture that so called snow.
Snow Formation
Took all these photos from our place. Now you might ask, how can I not love snow given the beauty that comes with it? I don’t hate snow but I despise the cold that goes with it plus the danger of the road after it. I wish it snows in the tropics, it would be very nice!!

Shutter Island

Disclaimer: I have not read the book so this review is mainly based on the movie adaptation.
This is not your typical movie with an easy plot line and a little thought required. Shutter Island blows your mind away, I tell you. The story is thought-provoking; the directing is brilliant; the acting, especially that of DiCaprio, is powerful. This is a must-watch movie.
Shutter Island is a mind bending mystery-thriller film. I was actually uncertain if I should watch it for I really thought that this movie was a horror flick based on the trailers I previously saw. I guess it was marketed that way. Yes it was dark and creepy, but it wasn’t scary. Don’t expect scenes that would make you jump off your seats although there was one near towards the end and that was it! Don’t expect background music that makes you scream. Scorsese, the director, was brilliant by not putting over-the-top creepy music.
Shutter Island is that kind of movie that will have you enthralled the entire time and will challenge you psychologically. You would have to use your brain cells during and after the movie. Just like the character of Di Caprio, as an audience, you would have to figure out yourself what’s real and reel. You can’t help but go through with his psychosis..wondering if he’s really insane or everything was a set up. I was actually second-guessing if what I was seeing was real or not especially towards the last 30 minutes of the film! After watching, I had to figure out which scenes I saw were real and which ones were hallucinations or delusions of DiCaprio.
Some of the scenes of the movie, especially the part where Di Caprio’s character went to the cells of the inmates, remind me of Silence of the Lambs. It has a dark style or Gothic gloom on it and this is one of the reasons why the movie is creepy.
Yes, Shutter Island is a complex movie but you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand it. It has the most-talked about ending. The ending would left you stunned. It is open for interpretation. It’s up to you how you would decipher the ending especially when DiCaprio’s character said, “Which would be worse, to live as a monster or to die as good man?”. Some may feel that it’s incomplete rather than satisfying. Regardless, the movie is not just mindbending but entertaining as well. This is that kind of movie that you would have to watch again after knowing the twist and turns for further clarity.
Now let’s talk about acting. The acting of the majority of the casts was top-notched but I would have to say my darling Leonardo DiCaprio stood out. He is amazing in this movie. You could really feel his intensity and the emotions in his eyes looked real. We all know that he is a good actor but in this film, he is genius!!!
Once again, Scorsese – the director of The Daparted, Gangs of New York, Cape Fear, Goodfellas – did a awesome job! I really think this movie should win an Oscar. I will be appalled if this movie won’t receive accolades it deserves.
If intellectually stimulating movie is your cup of tea, you must watch Shutter Island.
