Pakals!

While all the bloggers, the American people and the rest of the world are talking about Obama’s presidency, I am talking about food. There’s no connection whatsoever. It’s not that I don’t care. I did want Obama to be the next president but they had said it all already and I, on the other hand, am hungry..:D
My sister made this the other night, tinulang manok (chicken soup) with lemon grass and malunggay. Yummy! It’s been years since I had this. The soup was perfect for the weather. It’s getting really cold out here. In fact, it snowed a little this morning. Too early for winter, they said. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet!
Another fave of mine, kinilaw na isda (raw fish) with jalapeno, red onions, ginger, lemonsito and vinegar. Ang sarap pramis! My Manoy used to make this back home. He makes the best kinilaw ever. But this one made by my pretty sexy preggy sister is to die for as well. The fish is mahi-mahi by the way. Es delicioso!
This one is an experiment of mine. We got these fish ( I forgot the name) at the Asian market here. The “kano” will puke if they see these. They don’t eat fish with head and bones. It should be fillet. Sosyal! Haller, they’re just the same. “Eeeew, it seems that they’re looking at me!”, my former coworker said when asked about why she couldn’t eat whole fish. Ang arte ng lola!
I don’t really care what they say about the kind of food I am eating. Hey, it’s a free country. Well, they should thank me for not brining dried fish for lunch. They’d die, if I would. Lol.
Anyways, I put black beans, onions, garlic and bell pepper with this. “It wasn’t bad”, that was my sister told me. ” You should put tomatoes on it”, she added. In short, No Delicioso! She was just too nice not to say ” Resie, wa gyd lami. ” On the other hand, Jaime, my ever supportive boyfriend, told me it was delicious – that whatever I cook is good. LOL. I know, he was lying…hehe. I admit, I screwed up this time. Looks good though but remember, looks can be deceiving.
